DIGITAL SPACE17 November 2007 - 18 January 2008Collectif_Fact, Switzerland ELECTRONIC SHADOW, France ANNETT ZINSMEISTER, Germany In
their computergenerated animations, the artist-trio collectif_fact from
Geneva look at the impact of man-made environments, whereas they do not
create realistic imitations of life situations but tell narrative dream
sequences as movie episodes. The exhibition shows 2 animations, which
take the viewer on associative journeys through deserted cities or
snowy landscapes at night. These poetic trips irritate in a playful
way, confront us with our expectations – a tightrope walk between
poetry and nightmare. The artworks of Electronic Shadow captivate through their aesthetics – light and colour are carefully chosen - and are interactive. For the purpose of the exhibition the artist couple has built 1 models of Ex-isles, an originally large installation shown all around the world and Vibrations, a water sculpture. They consist of water pools whose movements and colouring are influenced by the viewer. In her in Berlin developed works, Annett Zinsmeister is looking at the cultural and constructive condition of architecture. Her light boxes show Plattenbauten from the series outside_in/virtual pulled inside out, their exterior surfaces are projected into interior 3-d spaces. The C-print series Modulare Utopien orginate from her examination of utopian potentials of mass architectur, they are visionary compositions of future variation in serial succession. JOHN F.
