Founded in 2000 by Naziha Mestaoui, architect and artist, and Yacine Ait Kaci, director and artist, Electronic Shadow focuses its research on the physical relations between space and image. Their works combine interior design with interactivity. The artists are concerned with the design of large installations that have a strong sensual impact on the observer. Projections, water, fire and dance play a major role.
Electronic Shadow have many exhibits to their credit (e.g. at MOMA in New-York, Museum of Photography in Tokyo, the Centre Georges Pompidou and La Villette in Paris, the French cultural center in Milan, the Moca Shangai,…) and, amongst others, won the Grand Prize at the 2004 Japan Media Art Festival and an Honorary Mention der Ars Electronica 2004.
